Taylor Swift To Perform At The Melbourne Cup

Pop megastar Taylor Swift seems set to turn her back on her career as a singer-songwriter in order to pursue her dream of becoming a jockey. Wait, no, that’s not right.

Swift will perform at the Melbourne Cup on November 5, a major boon for someone with no prior experience in professional horse racing.

The Victoria Racing Club confirmed the chart-topper’s appearance at the race that stops the nation in a breathless Instagram post on Thursday morning. “VRC is SUPER excited to announce ten-time GRAMMY® Award-winning, record-breaking global superstar @TaylorSwift will be performing at Flemington on @LexusAustralia Melbourne Cup Day,” it read.

The race will be Swift’s only appearance in Australia following the release of her latest album, Lover.

Last year cup competitor The Cliffsofmoher was euthanised on the track after breaking its shoulder during the race, putting a real downer vibe on what is otherwise a great event with no issues whatsoever.
