Here Are All The Celebrities Supporting Taylor Swift In Her Fight Against Big Machine
Everyone from Camila Cabello to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have gotten involved.
Most musicians suffer the slings and arrows of the music industry in silence. But Taylor Swift is not like most musicians.
Over the last few months, Swift has been very public about the behaviour of Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun, powerful music industry players who she says have essentially held her music ransom.
This week, for instance, Swift claimed that the two industry players were refusing to let her licence her own music for use in a live performance and in a comprehensive Netflix documentary made about her life.
In response, Swift went public, asking for help from her fans in convincing Borchetta and Braun that they should let her do with her own songs whatever she wants.

In the hours since that statement went live, not only has Swift’s active and loyal fanbase jumped into action, so have a range of high-profile celebrities.
Many of said celebrities are musicians — popstars who have clearly seen evidence of this kind of behind-the-scenes struggle before.
For instance, Lily Allen pledged her solidarity, and Halsey waxed lyrical about the incident.
Elsewhere, Swift’s friends, Camila Cabello and Selena Gomez, came out swinging for their bestie.
Solidarity with Taylor here, this sounds awful, and people wonder why music hasn’t had its #MeToo moment ? https://t.co/lqfRVfhDYK

artist trust labels. It’s supposed to be a healthy symbiosis. You have holidays with these people. dinners. deaths. Watch babies be born. They watch your lowest lows and highest highs. Sometimes things are unspoken. Legal doesn’t mean moral or ethical.

But that’s not all. The replies on Swift’s tweet are positively stuffed with messages of support from her colleagues — even some that claim to have disagreed with her in the past.
Can’t believe the abuse of power. Shocking. With you all the way girl #istandwithtaylor

Perform them and make them come after you. You’ll win in court! There’s a lot I don’t agree with you on but music is to be shared not silenced. #IStandWithTaylor

The support hasn’t just been relegated to the world of music, either, with artists and celebrities from all walks of life getting involved.
This is really scary. If this can happen to one of the biggest artists of all time, I cannot imagine the situation for newbies. https://t.co/8741ERb4Jq

You know what @scottborchetta and @scooterbraun Life's just too short for this nonsense. Be the people now you want to be remembered as later. @taylorswift13 Keep being you. "Nolite te bastardes carborundorum" #IStandWithTaylor #Swifties https://t.co/TVCpnXDYap

Outrageous, for someone to pour everything into their art and have someone else put a stop to them performing those songs is a huge injustice. I really hope this gets put right. #IStandWithTaylor https://t.co/Gi5GljIoCi

Oh, and just as a bonus round, here’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the superstar of the democratic party, rallying behind Swift too:
Private equity groups’ predatory practices actively hurt millions of Americans.
Their leveraged buyouts have destroyed the lives of retail workers across the country, scrapping 1+ million jobs. Now they’re holding @taylorswift13’s own music hostage.
They need to be reigned in. https://t.co/mSVeH718Hn

Good things really do happen when we all work together.
