Let’s not beat around the bush here, people. As expected by pretty much everybody, Stranger Things has been renewed for a third season. Hooray!

A tweet from Netflix has confirmed that the streaming service will be serving us up another spooky story from the town of Hawkins, most likely involving creatures from a parallel universe, psychic hi-jinks and copious references to Dungeons & Dragons. Maybe we’ll even get another whole episode about eighties punks in Chicago.

The confirmation has been expected for a while, after series creators the Duffer brothers told Vulture that they were working on concepts for a third and fourth season. Netflix is clearly keen to continue with the hit show, after the first season received rave reviews and 18 Emmy nominations, of which it won five. And while the streaming service doesn’t release audience statistics, Nielsen estimates that the first episode of season 2 drew around 15.8 million U.S. viewers in the first three days of release.

Series star Millie Bobby Brown seems pretty pleased about the news

But she’s got nothing on the show’s devoted fans.

At present, Stranger Things season 3 doesn’t have a release date, and considering the hefty gap between seasons 1 and 2, we’ll probably be waiting a while. But still, good news is good news.
