Ahead of Stranger Things‘ anticipated season three dropping tomorrow, something …strange is happening on Fortnite.

Players have found new portals across the game’s map which bear more than a passing resemblance to the glowing ones found in Netflix’s show, connecting the sleepy town of Hawkins with the ‘upside down’, a nightmarish mirror-world.

For now, if your Fortnite character heads into the portal, they won’t be transported to fight the demogorgon. Instead, they’re merely sent somewhere else on the map.

No formal partnership between the game and the show’s been announced, but we’re guessing things will become clearer once the show drops July 4 at 5pm AEST.

It’s hardly new territory for the game; as Business Insider reminds us, they’ve earned coin with crossover events with Avengers; Endgame, the Super Bowl and Nike before. And lets not forget about EDM superstar Marshmallow’s two in-game concerts.

See some footage of the portals below, and if you need a refresher on Stranger Things (it has been two years since S2, after all), we’ve got you covered.
