Everything We Know About ‘Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’, A New Video Game
The next big video game from a galaxy far, far away has been revealed.
Not content to simply drop the first trailer for the last film in the Skywalker saga, this morning Star Wars Celebration in Chicago revealed the next big video game coming from a galaxy far, far away.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a single player role playing game that introduces Cal Kestis (Cameron Monaghan), a Padawan who survived Order 66. The infamous order, issued by Senator Palpatine in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, resulted in the near-extinction of the Jedi, and caused those remaining to go into hiding.
At the start of the game Cal is lying low, working in salvage on the new planet Bracca. That won’t last for long though, as he is soon targeted by the Empire and must go on the run. Enemies include the new Purge Troopers, melee-focused soldiers tasked with hunting down hiding Jedi, and the Second Sister Inquisitor, a highly intelligent Force-user.
Fortunately for him, Cal won’t be without allies. Accompanying him will be the latest cute droid to come out of the Star Wars franchise, BD-1. This small, two-legged friend will assist Cal during his journey, and can be upgraded with tools found along the journey. Cal will also be helped by former Jedi Knight Cere (Debra Wilson), who acts as a friend and mentor.
Developed by Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind latest battle royale hit Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an action game with a focus on melee combat. “We made sure that the combat is something that’s easy to pick up but also if you put the time in you can master it – it has a lot of depth,” said game director Stig Asmussen during the Star Wars Celebration panel that revealed the game.
“We call the combat in the game ‘thoughtful combat’, and what that means is that you really have to size up your enemies, identify and exploit their weaknesses with all the powers that you have.”
No microtransactions. No loot boxes. And no, we won't be adding them. A single-player Star Wars story for those of you who are ready to become a Jedi. https://t.co/kTheWVBjJc

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be a third-person game and will have no microtransactions or loot boxes, so you won’t be tempted to fritter away your savings on cool lightsaber colours. Your lightsaber will still evolve throughout the game, but exactly how and what effect it will have has not yet been revealed.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 15. The game is available for pre-order now.
