Spotify Has Created Playlists Based On Your Horoscope, Which Is Peak 2019

That's such a Taurus thing to do.

Spotify Horoscope Playlist

It was only a matter of time until the cultural obsession that is astrology invaded our listening habits. And folks, that time has come.

Spotify has linked up with beloved astrologist Chani Nicholas to create playlists — titled, of course, Cosmic Playlists — based on your sign, and as of September, Australian and New Zealand listeners can now find their sign’s reading too when loading up the playlist on the mobile app.  According to Nicholas, playlists are intended as a collection of “theme songs” for your month; you’re also encouraged to use them for inspiration, healing, and reflection. They’ll be updated every month, like a kind of sonic horoscope.

“Astrology is about a specific moment in time,” Nicholas said about her method of curation. “Each moment has a specific astrological mark, or archetype associated with it, that defines it. Spotify and I have come together to take the theme of the moment for each sign and curate a playlist that reflects that.”

When asked to give an example, Nicholas pointed to Leo and the lunar eclipse.

“The first one we’re doing is for the upcoming lunar eclipse, which speaks to a dramatic theme that has been unfolding over the past two years. Since this eclipse is the last in a series that will occur in Leo it’s very significant for all of us, but especially so for Leos.

“It is, in a sense, a celebration of all of the self-expression and personal growth that Leos have undergone for the last couple of years. The playlist is meant to reflect, articulate, and celebrate that.”
