The ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Trailer Is Here, And We Have Some Big Questions
Could we really see the return of some long lost Spider-Men?
After many months of next to no promotional material and leaked trailers, the official Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer has finally arrived, bringing the multiverse with it.
The potential of an MCU multiverse was busted wide open in the season finale of Loki. Marvel’s What If series on Disney+ has offered short animated jaunts into alternate timelines over the last couple of weeks too, with episode one exploring the possibility of Peggy becoming Captain America instead of Steve, and the second exploring a timeline in which T’challa became Starlord instead of Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill.
But Spider-Man: No Way Home looks like it will bring the multiverse to the big screen and the trailer teases a million questions. So, let’s take a look at the biggest ones.
Will Doc Oct And Green Goblin Be The Ones We Know?
It is with an irresistible geekish glee that I inform you this trailer features none other than Mr Alfred Molina reprising his iconic role as Doctor Octopus from Sam Rami’s Spider-Man trilogy. And if that green grenade is anything to go by, he’s not the only Rami alumni making an appearance.
That #SpiderManNoWayHome trailer is so fucking good. I have not seen hype like this since Endgame, Andrew, Tobey, Sinister 6, Doctor Strange, etc. this movie's gonna be insane! I'm still processing that trailer wtf. pic.twitter.com/mvfBc3ZDpy

With that green grenade and unmistakeable cackle, I’d put money on Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin/Norman Osborn wreaking havoc in No Way Home Too. For the record, so it seems is Jamie Foxx’s Electrode from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, if those lightning strikes are anything to go by. But will they be their characters altogether or…something new?
If you remember, Evan Peters made an appearance in WandaVision. Despite speculation that he would be reprising his role as Quicksilver from the X-Men films, fans were disappointed to learn he was merely portraying a trick-version of Wanda’s brother. Evans’ casting was clearly intended as an almost inside joke with the audience.

It’s possible something similar could be going on here. Molina and Dafoe may well be portraying the same characters as they did before, but not the same roles. Just like Peters’ role in WandaVision, it may well be a case of clever casting. I hope it isn’t, but we’ll see.
Will We See Other Spider-Men? I Mean, Their Villains Are Here…
Short answer: It’s very likely. Long answer: It’s very likely, but if Spider-Man films across the board are good at one thing, it’s doing what you least expect. With villains cherry-picked from both the Sam Rami and Marc Webb Spidey films, it’s possible Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men aren’t far behind.

Sony isn’t a stranger to playing with a Spidey-verse either. Their award-winning animated film from 2018, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse featured multiple versions of Spider-man teaming up to save the world. Sidenote: Spider-Verse is possibly the best Spidey film of all time. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re in for a treat.
It’s quite possible Sony may try to replicate the success of Spider-Verse in No Way Home by featuring Maguire and Garfield’s Spider-men. But I’d wager if they were, they’d save that reveal for the film, not give it away in a trailer.
Me to Marvel after watching the trailer and has no reference to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield :- pic.twitter.com/VM9HD03Ic7

Is That…Matt Murdock?
Early in the trailer, we see Tom Holland’s Peter Parker being interrogated by the cops. If you remember, this is because Jake Gyllenhal’s Mysterio framed Peter for murder and then revealed that Peter was Spider-man at the end of Spider-Man: Far from Home.

In the shot, a man sits across from Peter at the interrogation table and slams a bunch of files down between them. Given the multiversal nature of the film, fans are theorising Peter’s lawyer may very well be Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil as he appeared in the Daredevil series on Netflix.
There is some credit to the theory as Cox was rumoured to be lingering around the set while the film was shooting. But at this point, his involvement is still a rumour. This hasn’t stopped folks on Twitter analysing and comparing Charlie Cox’s hands with the ones we see in the trailer, however. As a huge fan of Cox’s Matt Murdock, I’m a little scared to get my hopes up on this one.
