You may be aware that right now, Melbourne is in a state of Inception-like self-parody that appears to have no end. The sudden explosion of pop culture themed bars and eateries like the Larry David bagel shop and George Costanza bar has attracted the ire of the rest of the country and as a Melburnian, I can admit that we deserve it.

This is where Matthew Vernon’s Shit Bar Idea Generator comes in. The thesis is simple: “Thinking about opening a trendy hipster trash bar with your buddies? Is it gonna be heaps mad and different and cool? Use our generator to make sure you get that Broadsheet article written about you bro.” Sure it doesn’t specifically mention Melbourne, but it sure as hell isn’t about Perth, you know?

It’s so fucking funny.
