The Smith Street Band has cancelled its upcoming Australian tour a week before it was set to begin, with lead singer Wil Wagner posting a lengthy open letter on the band’s Facebook page.

The tour had already sold out one Melbourne show and one Brisbane show, and included stops in Sydney, Adelaide and Perth, as well as a slot at Hobart’s Day On The Lawn festival.

Previously announced supports The Beths and Sweater Curse pulled out of the tour three weeks ago.

The letter addresses, “old, private emails and messages being published on social media and serious claims being made against him”.

Read the letter in full below. If you need a refund for the tour, you can contact the point of purchase for the show. Day On The Lawn will announce a replacement act “as soon as possible”.
