Though home ownership is an ever-fading fantasy for most young Australians, games such as The Sims 4 give us the tools to at least simulate the dream. Today, that uncomplicated world of architectural desire and interior design has thrown open its doors to everyone daydreaming about building their own home, offering the game for free.

The Sims 4 is a god simulator in which you create a bunch of humans and dictate where they live, what they do, who they’re friends with, who they marry, and when they have children.

You can even tell them to go to the toilet or cheat on their spouse and they will do it, because they live to serve you.

This already makes The Sims 4 players some of the most powerful in any video game. Then on top of that you can build habitats for your human pets, shaping their world as you see fit. Create luxurious mansions and comforting cottages, or turn your virtual children into human art by walling them in 4×4 boxes lined with floor to ceiling windows. The possibilities are endless.

Publisher Electronic Arts is currently giving away full copies of The Sims 4 for free on PC via their Origin distribution platform. Usually $49.95, if you pick up the fourth main title in Maxis’ much-loved Sims series before 3:00AM AEST on Wednesday, May 29, you won’t be charged a cent.

To take advantage of this giveaway you need to have or create a free Origin account, but that only takes a minute. Once you have your account, just log in, go to The Sims 4‘s page, and hit the big orange “Get it Free” button. Download the Origin client, download The Sims 4, and dive right into building the art gallery of your dreams.

The Sims 4 has continued to receive consistent support from the development team since its release in 2014, with several expansion packs adding things such as pets, seasons, and of course new clothes for your Sims.

The Origin giveaway is for The Sims 4‘s Standard Edition, which only includes the base game. The Digital Deluxe Edition is still $59.95, and includes extra content such as funny hats for your Sims to wear while they scream for help inside their glass cages.
