In 2020, be like Sia: wear a wig, write pop music for Natalie Portman, and text your hot friend for no-strings sex.

For a massive GQ feature on Diplo, Sia was approached for comment, unsurprising given the two of them have worked together for more than a decade — including supergroup LSD. All of her quotes talk about how hot he is, and, as Paper Magazine points out, how much she wants to sleep with him.

In the feature, written by Gabriella Paiella, Sia sings Diplo’s praises by calling him the “sweetest thing in the world” and also “one of the most insecure boys I’ve ever met” — a far cry from the Insta-cowboy EDM king he presents as online. That insecurity is more to do with interpersonal relationships, according to Sia.

“He doesn’t think that he’s good enough at anything. He has crazy low self-esteem,” she said. “It’s so interesting, because he’s one of the most talented and attractive people in the world. But he doesn’t know it.”

Sia then explains that she has spent most of her relationship with Diplo “trying to not have sex” with him, but recently changed her mind.

“Much of our relationship is just being spent trying not to have sex so that we wouldn’t ruin our business relationship, because he’s super-duper hot,” Sia said.

“This year I wrote him a text, and I said, ‘Hey, listen, you’re like one of five people that I’m sexually attracted to, and now that I’ve decided to be single for the rest of my life and I just adopted a son, I don’t have time for a relationship.… If you’re interested in some no-strings sex, then hit me up.’ ”

The feature does not mention whether they have had sex, but it does go deep into Diplo’s psyche. Read it here, and take inspiration from Sia’s pragmatic, direct approach to fucking. In 2020, we’re aliveeeeeee.
