Seth Rogen, Everyone’s Fave Pothead, Accidentally Got Very High Before Adele’s Televised Concert

“We pull up and we see camera crews... and I’m like, ‘Maybe it’s not that big a television special’ and then the first person I see is Oprah Winfrey.”

If there’s one thing that Seth Rogen is going to do it’s get really, really high. And it turns out on the day he rocked up to the televised Adele special, where he sat front and centre, was no different.

As one of the many celebrities in the One Night with Adele crowd, shots of Seth Rogen were broadcast throughout the CBS special along with big names like Lizzo, Selena Gomez, Drake, Melissa McCarthy, Oprah and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The difference, however, is that I can bet most of the other celebrities present probably weren’t stoned out of their absolute minds — or at least as much as our favourite pothead Seth Rogen was.  Thankfully for us, the actor has finally shared the hilarious tale of how it all came to be while chatting Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

“I was in the front row of the Adele concert,” Rogen started. “And that is as surprising to me as anyone because I had no idea I was attending the taping of an Adele television special at all.”

“I got an invitation [that said], ‘Do you want to go to a small Adele concert?'” Rogen explained to Fallon. “We smoked a ton of weed, and we were like, ‘We’re just going to enjoy this lovely Adele concert.'”

“We pull up and we see cranes and camera crews — there’s drones flying around. There’s an entire crew there and I’m like, ‘Oh no, we are at the filming of a television special.’ We’re on a television show! And I’m like, ‘Maybe it’s not that big a television special’ — and then the first person I see is Oprah Winfrey.

“Then me and my wife are like, ‘Okay, maybe we can kind of like, slink into the background.’ We’ll just sit in the back. It’s fine. We’re not equipped mentally to deal with doing this right now, really,” he continued. “So we go up to the desk, and they give us our tickets, and our seat numbers literally are 1A and 1B. And I’m like ‘Oh no! That sounds close’. We’re as close as you can fathomably be.”

Seth Rogen added that he really didn’t understand why he was given priority seating because he doesn’t personally know Adele, nor has he ever met her.

“Adele, if you’re watching this… why? Why did you do that?!” Rogen laughed. “There are so many more famous people than me here that should be sitting where I’m sitting! I could just feel them be insulted that I had such a good seat.

“I was in front of Drake — there’s no world where I should be in front of Drake!” he continued. “How is that possible? I could just feel Drake’s eyes drilling into the back of my head, like, ‘Why am I in 3R and he’s in 1A?’ I was six rows in front of Ellen DeGeneres and Kris Jenner! I truly have no idea why they did that.”

“The whole time I’m like, ‘just try to look cool’… [but] it was hard for me to look cool because I’m uncomfortable,” Rogen added. “I’m too close. I feel Leonardo DiCaprio behind me thinking, ‘Did Seth Rogen write ‘Rolling in the Deep’? Is that why he’s so close?!'”

But even though he was very high and very confused at the time, Seth Rogen shared that he did enjoy seeing Adele live during the intimate performance. Plus, he thinks that the televised One Night with Adele concert is probably the “most popular” thing he’s ever been in in his life.

“Everyone I know watched it,” Seth Rogen ended his story. “I think it’s the most popular thing I’ve ever been in my entire life.

“There are people I know who have not watched my last five movies who have been texting me like ‘That Adele concert looked incredible’.”

Oh Seth Rogen, never change.
