Prime Minister and professional sport cosplayer Scott Morrison may be looking for a new job after this weekend’s federal election, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be the Socceroos next recruit after his soccer skills went viral on Wednesday.

Morrison is in Tasmania as part of his final days of campaigning, where he attended the Devonport Strikers soccer club in Braddon — a marginal seat.

The club just copped $3.5 million in funding as part of a grant announced yesterday, but it’s unclear if that’s enough to clean up the mess Morrison made when he tried his hand (or… feet) at the sport for himself.

In footage that has thankfully been captured by the travelling press package, Morrison can be seen bowling over a child in a game of junior soccer.

In the interest of fair and unbiased journalism, I must also report that he successfully tackled a small child as well. I’m not going to call this a win, on account of the fact that he’s probably 10 times older than everyone else in the game, but it was successful.

The incident has already spawned a number of memes online within minutes of occurring.

Morrison is attending the kids’ practice as well as the senior women’s state team practice on Wednesday night.

He doesn’t hold a hose and, apparently, he doesn’t bend it like Beckham either.
