The Rest Of The World Has Noticed How Totally Useless Our Prime Minister Is
Even actress Bette Midler took to Twitter to shred strips off him.
To say that Scott Morrison has bungled his duties as Prime Minister during one of the most serious environmental crises in recent Australian history might even be an understatement.
The bushfires sweeping the nation require a leader with vision, foresight, leadership and empathy. Morrison has none of those things. At the first sign of trouble, he fled the country, taking a bougie holiday overseas. But even when he was back and supposedly ready to take on the challenge, he still managed to flub everything from a photo opp to the pressing need to properly remunerate our volunteer fire service.
Basically, the man has acted like a national disgrace.
Or, actually, maybe that should be international disgrace.
Yep, so significant has been the man’s buffoonery that he’s attracted the attention of the rest of the world, with international media outlets closely covering every single one of his bungles.
Scott Morrison and his government are struggling to control both the bushfires and the political storm around them. Here’s my effort to explain why via the @BBCNews YouTube channel. https://t.co/Gzc1j355Ix

Footage today of him grabbing hands to shake as residents beg him to send more aid. It’s sickening. https://t.co/yPcMviJdEC

But it’s not just journalists weighing in on the disastrous behaviour of Scotty From Marketing. A swathe of American celebrities and politicians have handed down their final word too, criticising any government that ignores the pressing need to address climate change.
Take, for instance, this Tweet from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the shining light of the democratic party in the United States.
“This is just the beginning of our new climate reality,” she wrote of the bushfires. “And to those who mock the science saying we have 10 yrs to fix it: try telling the thousands of people displaced by disasters that they’re ‘just overreacting.'”
This is just the beginning of our new climate reality.
We must dramatically draw down CO2 to save our livable planet.
And to those who mock the science saying we have 10 yrs to fix it: try telling the thousands of people displaced by disasters that they’re “just overreacting.” https://t.co/uQYui6Rnzf

Democratic nominee for President, Bernie Sanders, had even harsher words.
“Australians can’t ‘stay safe and have fun,’ because their homes are on fire,” Sanders wrote.
Australians can't "stay safe and have fun," because their homes are on fire.
Fossil fuel companies like @exxonmobil created the climate crisis and made wildfires worse.
When we pass a Green New Deal we'll hold fossil fuel executives accountable for the destruction they caused. https://t.co/LbDRqqHXON

And then, finally, perhaps most damning of all, Bette Midler, star of the big and small screen, weighed in on Morrison.
And she wasn’t happy.
“Pity the poor Australians, their country ablaze, and their rotten Scott Morrison saying, ‘This is not the time to talk about Climate Change. We have to grow our economy,'” Midler wrote. “What an idiot. What good is an economy in an uninhabitable country? Lead, you fuckwit!!”

Reckon most of Australians couldn’t have said it better themselves.
