Cast your mind back, for a few seconds, to schoolies. Perhaps you were on a beach in Byron, accidentally falling asleep in the sun after imbibing too much and waking up with a god-fucking-awful sunburn.

Or maybe you were on the Goldie, yelling at other groups from your high-rise balcony and building towers out of UDL cans. Or you could have you gathered up the girls for a trip to Bali, where you learned that sometimes those cocktails aren’t watered down at all — and you just drank 13 of them.

Schoolies is (for better, and often for worse) a rite of passage for many young Australians, who blow off the pressure of final exams with a week of debauchery and partying. It’s a memory that will stick with you (again, for better and worse) for long time to come.

And last night, music journalist — and Music Junkee contributor — Jackson Langford poked that particular memory bear, asking his followers on Twitter to recount what their schoolies song was.

The responses were varied, with some people throwing out names like Justin Timberlake, Sneaky Sound System and The Presets, while others were more contemporary, naming acts like Icona Pop and A$AP Rocky.

As for us, it was The Wombats’ ‘Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves) and Adrian Lux’s ‘Teenage Crime’ — the best, in our humble, definitely not biased, opinion. Scroll through the full thread here, and prepare to tumble headfirst back into those coconut cocktails.
