‘Schitt’s Creek’ Just Made Emmys History, And Everyone Is So Happy To See It
"What is your favourite season?" "Awards."

Schitt’s Creek has cleaned out at the 2020 Emmys, winning nine awards — and breaking a record for a comedy series while doing it.
The beloved sitcom, which ended earlier this year after six seasons, had previously never won Emmy awards before the 2020 Emmys, but leaves tonight’s socially distanced awards show with the most ever won by a comedy series in a single year.
This breaks the record previously held by Amazon show Marvellous Mrs. Maisel, which won eight awards in both 2018 and 2019.
Each of the actors behind the Rose family won an acting award across lead and supporting categories — Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara; Daniel Levy and Annie Murphy, respectively — and the show also took out Best Comedy Series, Best Directing (Comedy), Best Writing (Comedy), Best Casting (Comedy) and Best Contemporary Costumes.

The awards sweep perhaps suggests the show is finally, now it’s over, getting its dues.
In his acceptance speech for Best Comedy Series, creator and star Dan Levy said that “our show at its core is about the transformational effects of love and acceptance and that is something we need more of now than we’ve ever needed before.”
And there was a lot of love on social media, with everyone from Paula Abdul to Drag Race‘s currently reigning Jaida Essence Hall tweeting out their congratulations to the cast and crew.
Other big winners of the night have been Watchmen and SNL, which both won three awards. Find the full list here. In an awkward hiccup, Jason Bateman was incorrectly announced as a winner at the Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday, prompting the show to cut to commercials.

If you step away from sports for a moment tonight, @SchittsCreek is owning the @TheEmmys . And frankly, this show deserves every accolade it receives. Simply one of the best television shows. Ever.
