A Former Festival Worker Is Rating Artists Over Their Backstage Behaviour
"Ben Gibbard...Total asshole, actually threw a tantrum because we were out of steak tacos."
If you’ve ever thought to yourself, I wonder whether Dave Grohl is a chocolate-covered raisin kinda guy or a chocolate coffee bean kinda guy, your time has finally come.
Writer and comedian Bronwyn Ariel Isaac, or @bronwomb, recently dished some dirt on TikTok about her time as an artist caterer at the Washington festival Sasquatch, giving some lovely, and some fairly brutal, reviews of the musos that came through the festival gates.
She starts off with the eternal Grohl question, saying the catering team had to order extra chocolate raisins for him because he was so obsessed — and he was a genuinely lovely, “great energy” dude. Flying Lotus gets a glowing review as well, she calls him a “very polite, very quiet, sweet angel”, which seems very on-brand for FlyLo.
Sharon Van Etten is also a “sweet, perfect angel” according to Isaac (Etten even dropped by the comments on the video to say thank you), while Icelandic dreamers Sigur Rós were “exactly like their music, elusive, beautiful…they said words I don’t remember the words. Time was frozen.”
She gifted RATATAT a 420 out of ten, on account of them being “so high”. “I wanted some, whatever they had,” she says. “They seemed blissed-out, disoriented.”
New Girl star and occasional singer Zooey Deschanel was “really sweet”, and also confused the entire staff by finding a random baby. “I have no idea who’s baby it was, and she was playing with the baby…that felt very on brand.”
One artist though did not get off as lightly. “Ben Gibbard, three out of 10,” Isaac says. “Total asshole, actually threw a tantrum because we were out of steak tacos.”
