Back in 2010, when she dropped her debut album Tug of War, an Australian tour wasn’t really on the radar of one Carly Rae Jepsen.

It’s not hard to see why. In those days, Jepsen seemed poised to be — at most — a local but cherished Canadian talent, best-known for her appearance on a reality TV show, making music too strange and slight to ever break out into the mainstream.

But then ‘Call Me Maybe’ happened, vaulting her into the glare of an international spotlight. And then came Emotion, a collection of strange, subtle, sad bangers — ’80s-inspired masterworks like ‘Run Away With Me’, the song you play when you want your crops watered, your skin cleared up, and your taxes done for you.

And still, despite her newfound success, an Australian tour never eventuated.

Wilder wishes came true in that time. A petition for Carly Rae to be blessed with a sword came to fruition, resulting in a series of photographs more healing and powerful than a straight shot of penicilin.

But now, finally, the long wait is over: Carly Rae Jepsen is heading Down Under, playing 2019’s absolutely stacked Sandtunes festival.

The much-hyped festival was set to debut on Coolangatta Beach last year, before it was pushed back to make more time for preparations.

And hey, looks like that time has been very well-spent.

The bumper line-up so far includes: Travis Scott, Logic, Juice Wrld, Carly Rae Jepsen, Chvrches, Dean Lewis, Cub Sport, Sampa The Great and more.

The festival goes down over two days, on Saturday November 30 and Sunday December 1. Tickets will go onsale at noon on Wednesday July 31. Though, be warned: given the appearance of Carly Rae, those things will undoubtedly sell like hotcakes.
