Sam Simmons has been a regular presence on the local comedy circuit, a guest presenter on triple j and a persistent figure lurking on the edges of your nightmares for around a decade now, but for the past few years he’s been setting his sights on the rest of the world.

In 2013, he introduced US audiences to “Wookiee Goldberg” on Conan and last year he hit the UK and copped a nomination for the top award at the Edinburgh Fringe. Now he’s been working on a new project with Channel 4 in London; the same people who produced The IT Crowd and Black Books as well recently taking up Adam Hills’ The Last Leg.

Released today, the project is an online mini-series called Wallstud and it’s exactly what we’ve come to expect from the comedian: a neurotic fever dream about a guy who acts like a children’s presenter on acid and is stuck in a world where problems are solved with outlandish musical numbers inspired by underground raves from the ’90s.

Enjoy your slow crawl into madness. All three episodes are online now.

“And the moral of the story is fish. Yeah. Something about fish.”

Sam Simmons’ new stand-up show Spaghetti for Breakfast is touring all around the country including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival shortly. Head to his website for more information.
