"Goodbye Ruby Princess," goes his chorus. "Who can hang the blame on you, with that strange coronavirus? Still we're going to miss you."

The Ruby Princess debacle is a massive stuff-up committed by a government that seem incapable of not stuffing up.

The cruise liner, which docked and unloaded in Sydney despite evidence that many of its passengers were infected with coronavirus, is responsible for hundreds of infections and more than “20 deaths”. Which is wild, considering that the number one message that the Liberal party have taken to almost every modern election is that they’re the party that can “stop the boats”. Turns out that sentiment wasn’t only a bit of dogwhistling for the racists — it was also a lie.

Well, now musician Lindsay McDougall has taken the piss of the government’s mishandling with a cover of the classic Rolling Stones song, ‘Goodbye Ruby Tuesday.’

McDougall’s version has the same melody, but tweaked lyrics. “Goodbye Ruby Princess,” goes his chorus. “Who can hang the blame on you, with that strange coronavirus? Still we’re going to miss you.”
