You didn’t watch the royal wedding last night. Maybe you hit the town instead. Maybe you watched the footy. Maybe you are ideologically opposed to an imperialist institution that is built upon the suffering of the working class, one that symbolises society’s fetishisation of undeserved wealth and privilege.

Whatever the reason — you’ve woken up this morning and you’re seeing photos, memes and jokes about the royal wedding floating around. You don’t understand any of it.

The Priest!

Alright, so you probably wouldn’t have expected a black American priest to give a colourful sermon that discussed slavery and injustice. But it happened, and bishop Michael Curry’s sermon was magical.

What made it all the more worthwhile were the cutaways to the onlooking royal family, many of whom couldn’t contain their surprise at the passionate sermon.
