Roseanne Barr Is Getting Roasted After She Blamed Sleeping Pills For Her Racist Tweet
The makers of Ambien are not taking Roseanne's bullshit.
The makers of the sleeping tablet Ambien have clapped back at Roseanne Barr after the actress tried to blame the drug for the racist tweet that cost her her job.
Barr’s hit sitcom Roseanne was cancelled on Tuesday after she compared Valerie Jarrett, a former advisor to President Barack Obama, to an ape. She has since deleted the offensive tweet and apologised, only to come under further scrutiny when she attempted to blame the sleep aid for her behaviour.
“It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting,” the actress tweeted on Tuesday evening.
But Sanofi, the company that makes Ambien, was not having a bar of Barr’s bullshit.
“While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication,” the company tweeted on Wednesday.
People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world. While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication.

In another tweet, Barr said she had previously had “odd ambien experiences on tweeting late at night like many other ppl do,” including one instance where she had “cracked eggs on the wall at 2am” after taking the drug.
Barr said she was not “giving excuses for what I did”, but was offering “an explanation”.
Whatever she wants to call it, her Ambien line has sparked one hell of a roasting.

Oh, and if you were wondering whether those lovable pranksters at Dictionary.com got involved… of course they did.
The name Ambien is thought to come from the word “ambient” or similar words in French. Ambient does not mean “prone to making racist comments,” but it does mean “of the surrounding area or environment.” https://t.co/UpYY5eKzIo https://t.co/XsPn8FthV5
