Wubba lubba dub-dub! After whetting our appetites last month with a series of very strange claymation shorts, Adult Swim has dropped a new clip from the upcoming season of Rick and Morty.

The partially animated storyboard, which features live commentary from members of the production team, sees Rick pulling Morty out of school for “a quick adventure,” only for the pair of inter-dimensional travelers to find themselves caught up in a massive space battle. They’re ultimately hailed as heroes in a Star Wars-inspired medal ceremony, only to both breakdown from exhaustion and stress once they get back to their spaceship.

“That was seriously fucked up, we almost died,” yells Rick. “I was not in control of that situation at all.”

It’s unclear how Rick got out of intergalactic prison, where he was locked up at the end of season two for crimes against the Galactic Federation. However he did it though, it looks like life in the slammer has taken its toll.

Details on the third season of Rick and Morty are hard to come by. We know that it contains 14 episodes and will go to air at some point in 2017. Co-creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon – the latter of whom was recently in Australia – have also teased a number of potential story threads, including the return of Mr. Meeseeks and sending Rick and Morty to Hawaii.

Personally, I’d also like to see the thrilling conclusion to Water-T And The Rise Of The Numbericons, but I might be alone in that.
