Everyone Is Thirsting After The “Resident Evil 2 Twink”

Resident Evil 2 is a survival horror video game in which you must escape a zombie-infested city. However, as we have learnt from numerous teen horror movies, terror does not necessarily negate horniness.

The original Resident Evil 2 was released in 1998, the year triple j gave the number one spot in their Hottest 100 to The Offspring’s ‘Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)’. Mistakes were made that year, but Resident Evil 2 was not one of them. The game earned widespread praise, and quickly became a beloved entry in a franchise that was then in its infancy.

Resident Evil 2 was a successful game by itself, but also introduced the fly white guy du jour: Raccoon City Police Department’s newest recruit Leon Scott Kennedy.

A recent graduate from the police academy, 21-year-old Leon only arrives in Raccoon City on the day of the zombie outbreak. Unfortunately, he never gets his welcome party, because by the time he gets to the station most of his new colleagues have been killed to death.

It’s been over 20 years since the world first met Leon on one of the worst first days of work anyone has ever had, and he’s since become a well-known figure in Resident Evil lore. However, this week he found new popularity with the release of the Resident Evil 2 remake.

Released January 25, the remake updates the game’s graphics, updates its gameplay, and updates its Leon Kennedy. While OG Leon was a polygon-tastic floppy-haired noodle boy with ridiculous shoulder pads, 2019 Leon is, to use common parlance, “a snack”.

The new Leon is based on Romanian model Eduard Badaluta, who underwent facial scans for the game. Seventy-nine percent of players who chose to share their data played as Leon for their first playthrough, and though that number cannot be attributed solely to thirst, it’s likely a contributing factor.

People are quite keen.

Some fans are going further, pairing Leon with trenchcoat-wearing nightmare barn T-00, also known as Mr X. In Resident Evil 2, T-00 is a terrifying murder giant who stalks Leon with intent to kill. In the alternate fan reality of art, fics and headcanons, things between them are a little more complex.

It’s nice to know that in this world of terror and uncertainty, the one thing that can still bring humanity together is the insatiable need to bone.
