‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Now Has An IRL Fashion Collection

Now your self-image as a rootin’ tootin’ cowboy can finally bleed from video games into your everyday life.

Red Dead Redemption 2, a cowboy fashion video game, adds a new level of complexity to your clothing options that wasn’t in the series’ previous instalment. Wearing clothes that aren’t suitable for the current weather now has a negative effect on your health, encouraging players to think about what they wear and discouraging riding through snow-covered forests in light cotton shirts.

Players can also pop into the tailor shop in town and choose from a large selection of jackets, shirts, pants and boots, gussying themselves up to become the handsomest fella on the prairie and spending a lot of money on a hat they will inevitably lose in a shootout.

Now developer Rockstar is teaming up with American design company Barking Irons to bring that seedling of sartorial mindfulness out of the game and into real life.

Barking Irons has released a limited edition Red Dead Redemption 2 collection this week, based on player character Arthur Morgan’s own threads. The collection includes a £200 waxed cotton jacket with a cowhide leather collar, a £145 saddle bag, and a £120 Japanese denim shirt, because sometimes authenticity has to make way for aesthetic.

Rockstar stated in a press release that T-shirts will be added to the collection, but the current pieces look like a great option if you want to up your game while repping your game.

Each item in the collection is tastefully marked with the Red Dead Redemption 2 logo, and the shirts also bear an “A. Morgan” printed on the inside of the collar. So only you will know that within this mild-mannered city dweller beats the heart of an outlaw.
