Finally, finally the culture is coming around on Rebecca Black.

The meme-ified singer, best known for her viral song ‘Friday’, received a great deal of undue hate for that breakout single. Nobody recognised it for what it was — a slice of pure unadulterated camp, worthy of serious consideration. Instead, they denigrated it, and Black by association.

But over the last few years, Black is being considered anew. Her new songs — heartfelt and anthemic club bangers — are getting the attention that they deserve, and Black regularly goes viral for her Twitter presence.

Which is precisely why a new video in which Black offers a take on that other great work of cultural camp that is finally getting its dues, Smash Mouth’s ‘All Star’, is so welcome.

Black recorded the cover via her Cameo. The song was requested by Sam and Emma, the hosts of Punk Goes Pod, a beloved podcast hailing from Melbourne, and delivered to celebrate the birthday of Richard S. He.

He, a music journalist, musician and Music Junkee contributor, is a noted fan of both Rebecca Black and Smash Mouth. And if you weren’t a fan of either act before, you definitely will be a fan when you see the two combined.

I mean, just watch:
