The day has finally come, y’all. Piers Morgan has finally quit Good Morning Britain, which means we’ll no longer be forced to listen to his very bad opinions platformed on a national stage.

—CW: This article discusses suicide—

After six years of spitting his terrible takes on the show, Morgan called it quits this morning after media regulator, Ofcom, received a whopping 41,015 complaints over his recent comments about Meghan Markle.

“Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain,” ITV said in a statement. “ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

On Monday’s show, Piers Morgan felt the need to dissect the Oprah with Meghan and Harry interview and share that he “didn’t believe a word” the Duchess told Oprah about her mental health.

“Who did you go to?” Morgan said. “What did they say to you? I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she said, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report.”

“The fact that she’s fired up this onslaught against our Royal Family I think is contemptible,” he said before going on to call Meghan the “Pinocchio Princess” in a stream of tweets where Morgan was confident he wouldn’t get fired for his opinions. Spoiler alert: He did.

But despite Piers Morgan thinking he was invincible, once the Good Morning Britain episode aired, Ofcom received tens of thousands of complaints, which the media regulator plan to investigate under their “harm and offence rules”.

In response to the backlash, Piers Morgan was also forced to clarify his comments on Tuesday’s show. Essentially, Morgan tried to justify his comments by saying that, while it was not for him “to question if she felt suicidal” he “still has serious concerns about the veracity of a lot of what” Meghan Markle said.

“My real concern was a disbelief frankly… that she went to a senior member of the Royal household and told them she was suicidal and was told she could not have any help because it would be a bad look for the family.”

Gloriously before announcing his decision to quit, Piers Morgan literally walked off set after he was absolutely destroyed by co-host Alex Beresford on Tuesday’s show.

During the heated exchange, Beresford brought up Morgan’s strange obsession with Meghan Markle and how he seemingly couldn’t get over the Duchess after she allegedly “ghosted” the morning show host for Prince Harry.

“I understand that you have a personal relationship with, or had one, and she cut you off… has she said anything about you since she cut you off?” Beresford asked. “I don’t think she has, but yet you continue to trash her.”

“OK, I’m done with this,” Morgan said as he walked off set like a giant toddler. “Sorry, no, sorry. See you later. Sorry, can’t do this.”

“You know what, that’s pathetic. This is absolutely diabolical behaviour,” Beresford said to those still at their desks. “I’m sorry, but Piers spouts off on a regular basis and we all have to sit there and listen.”

Sadly, while it’s almost certain that another rival network will grab Piers Morgan to boost their ratings, I do love it when the trash manages to take itself out.
