To say Phoebe Waller-Bridge has had a meteoric rise to fame is to understate things.

Six years ago the British playwright, actor, and screenwriter was garnering middling, if not international, attention for her one-woman play Fleabag. Slam forward in time, and not only has Fleabag spawned two critically beloved seasons of television, but Waller-Bridge has become Hollywood’s new golden child.

First, she appeared as a grumpy android in Solo, a Star Wars spin-off directed by Ron Howard. Then, Daniel Craig asked the actress to punch up the script for the forthcoming James Bond film, bringing to it her trademark wit and intelligence. Now, Waller-Bridge has netted a bunch of historic Emmys for her work on the show that made her name.

Needless to say, Waller-Bridge accepted the wins in her trademark style. As in, she swallowed down a curse word, and called the whole experience “absolutely mental.”

Of course, Waller-Bridge’s deeply relatable reaction to winning big only makes her — and her show — that much more enjoyable. It’s a mistake to too closely align the artist with their art, but clearly Fleabag comes directly from the heart. Even if it’s not an autobiography, it’s an artist twisting their spirit into their work, producing something aggressively, perfectly human in the process.

Anyway, if that wasn’t enough for you, shortly thereafter, Waller-Bridge relaxed in a dress with a martini, proving that she might well be the coolest human being on the planet earth.

Needless to say, all this extra Waller-Bridge exposure has the internet in absolute rapture, and her fans have spent the last 12 hours having a time of it on Twitter.

That said, no need to get too happy with the writer and star; while backstage at the awards show, she confirmed that there is no forthcoming season of Fleabag planned.

Big hmm on that one, to be honest with you Phoebe.
