Pedro Pascal, or “your cool, slutty daddy” in his own words, just landed on the set of Saturday Night Live for his first hosting gig. Battle stations, everyone.

“Little Pedro Pascal from Santiago, Chile, hosting Saturday Night Live. Wild,” he exclaims in wonder at the iconic SNL set in a promotional short. This man’s humility is approaching Ke Huy Quan territory with that sentiment, and I can only take so much before I need time to emotionally recover.

But he’s not alone; he notices a shadow flit past behind the stage down a dark corridor. The promo clip parodies his current role as Joel in HBO’s The Last of Us, the TV series that currently has everyone in a chokehold, much like its zombie-creating fungal infection.

Speaking of fungus zombies, Pascal ignores all horror movie laws on the SNL set and channels his inner Joel as he follows the shadow with nothing but his trusty torch. A torch! Watch one horror movie, Pedro.

As he comes across an infected zombie, Pascal finds a convenient hammer on one of the backstage boxes and prepares to strike. Understandable behaviour in an episode of The Last of Us but not so much on a comedy sketch show. Out pop SNL cast members Sarah Sherman and Molly Kearney who scold Pascal for trying to whale on fellow cast member ‘Matt’ with a hammer.

“This place is nuts,” Pascal reflects. “I like it.” That’s more like it. We love to see our cool, slutty daddy thriving on primetime television. Just as long as they don’t mispronounce his name.
