In the midst of last week’s Oscars drama, it was easy to miss that the trailer for the much anticipated 2nd season of Only Murders In The Building dropped online.

Starring Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin, Only Murders In The Building is a love letter to true-crime podcast fans. The series follows three tenants of an Upper West Side complex who decide to make a podcast about the murder of their neighbour, Tim Kono.

The murder mystery takes many twists and turns as Oliver (Short), Mabel (Gomez), and Charles (Martin) gather evidence and clues. But even our trio of true crime crusaders have some skeletons tucked away in their closets to be uncovered.

It quickly became a cult hit as fans feverishly theorised who could have killed Tim Kono. The finale offered a tantalising solution that appeared to tick all the boxes, but it turns out… this was not the only¬†murder in the building.

In Season 1’s final sequence, the building is evacuated after the cops show up. Charles and Oliver go to find Mabel, only to find her kneeling over the bloody body of their overbearing landlord, Bunny. Bunny’s knitting needles are protruding stabbed through her throat and all Mabel can say is that it isn’t what it looks like — talk about a cliffhanger.

Now, Season 2 is only a few months away, and here’s what we know so far.

Cara Delevingne has been cast as a new recurring character called Alice. Little is known about her, however, she and Mabel appear to be quite cosy in the trailer. A girlfriend, perhaps? Ex-girlfriend? Is she the murdered landlord, Bunny’s daughter looking to get to the bottom of what happened to her mum? We will have to wait and see.

Everyone’s favourite ageless white man¬†Paul Rudd has also been cast in Season 2. Considering the first season’s iconic Sting cameo, I have a feeling Paul Rudd is perhaps going to be the show’s next hilarious celebrity appearance. The best part about setting a show in a fancy apartment block in NYC is that the possibilities are endless when it comes to cameos.

Needless to say, I cannot wait to see my emotional support elderly besties and Selena Gomez solving crimes again.

Only Murders In The Building is streaming on Disney+ and Season 2 will premiere on June 28, 2022. You can watch the trailer below.
