A little under a week ago, a school principal filmed her students going absolutely hog wild over ‘Old Town Road’, a country-rap megahit from rising star Lil Nas X.

The resulting footage was so goddamn adorable — so intensely loveable and heartwarming — that even Lil Nas X himself took notice, retweeting the footage and asking the principal if the students were interested in a free show entirely of their own.

Evidently, the answer was yes. Yesterday, to the delight of the students of Mayfield Heights primary school in Ohio, Lil Nas X himself rocked up, cowboy hat in hand, to treat the students to an intimate version of the biggest song of 2019 so far.

And lemme tell you — those kids absolutely fucking loved it.

If you thought that you had seen a moshpit go off, think again, because these kids put the most battlehardened crunker to absolute shame. The minute the tune starts, the crowd becomes a sea of nascent hands thrust aloft and screaming, giddy country-rap superfans so rabid that Lil Nas X probably could have belted out the tune for four straight hours and nobody would have complained.

It wasn’t the only adorable moment from the schooltrip either, which was captured in full by a camera team. In fact, it’s hard not to be moved by the excitement of Lil Nas X himself, who seems as over the moon to be wandering the halls of the school as his pint-sized fans.

So there you have it, folks: deny ‘Old Town Road’ at your peril.
