We no longer have to make do with simply staring at Henry Cavill’s ass. Netflix just released the first teaser trailer for The Witcher this morning, and it looks as though Geralt and his arms are in for a rough time.

Based on the Witcher books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, Netflix’s The Witcher series starts Cavill as the titular silver-haired monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia.

Most Australians would know Geralt from CD Projekt Red’s video game adaption of Sapkowski’s fantasy series. However, the Netflix adaptation will introduce a new interpretation of the character.

The world got its first glimpse at Geralt’s finalised look earlier this month, with fans much more appreciative of it than they were the initial screen test. Now, we get to see it all in motion.

Wearing a much-improved wig and eternally dour expression, Cavill’s “mutated monster hunter” is looking a bit worse for wear in the series’ first trailer. Though, to be fair, that’s likely his usual state of affairs.

“So that’s all life is to you?” a woman asks Geralt in the trailer. “Monsters and money?”

“It’s all it needs to be,” responds a dirty, shirtless Geralt, glistening sweaty biceps the size of Christmas hams at her.

Unfortunately for Geralt, his subjectively simple life of coin and carnage isn’t likely to last. Also included in the trailer are Yennefer of Vengerberg, played by Anya Chalotra, and Princess Ciri, played by Freya Allan. Fans of the books and games will know that these women come to play an important part in Geralt’s life.

“You can’t outrun destiny just because you’re terrified of it,” a man tells Geralt. “It’s coming.”

Exactly when it’s coming is still a mystery, though. Netflix hasn’t announced a release date for The Witcher, but says the series is “coming soon”.
