HBO has released a haunting trailer for critically acclaimed documentary Leaving Neverland, which explores the claims of two men who say they were sexually abused by late music icon Michael Jackson when they were children.

The four hour documentary premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it was praised by critics and condemned by Jackson’s estate.

In a recent interview with Vice, director Dan Reed said he believed his film would make people “rethink their view” of the pop singer.

“[Jackson] was a great artist and entertainer,” said Reed. “He was also a pedophile.”

Reed also spoke about the current climate around accusations of sexual abuse, citing the #MeToo movement and the recent documentary series about alleged abuser R. Kelly.

“There’s been this wave of believing victims of sexual abuse, instead of smearing them,” he said. “I don’t think today Jackson would’ve gotten away with what he did in the 90s.”

Leaving Neverland will air on HBO in the US on March 3 and 4.
