It’s that time of year again!

A time of wanton decadence and excess when it couldn’t be more inappropriate — that’s right, it’s time for a pandemic Met Gala! Good news, though, life isn’t passing through your fingers quite as quickly as it seems like it is — the last Met Gala was only eight months ago, in September 2021, and like last time, this year’s theme vaguely centres on [checks notes] America?

This year, the theme is ‘Gilded Glamour’, and the invitation explicitly excluded instructions to dress “white tie” rather than black tie, a dress code that we’ve never heard of. “Dust off Edith Wharton’s Age of Innocence and The House of Mirth,” reckons Vogue. “The 2022 Met Gala will ask its attendees to embody the grandeur — and perhaps the dichotomy — of Gilded Age New York.” Sure.
