We’ve been hyped on the idea of a Will & Grace revival ever since the cast reunited during the election campaign to make fun of Donald Trump. Rumours about a new season have been swirling ever since – and this week we got our most promising indication yet that the show might hypothetically be coming back.

In a recent interview with Pride Source, actress Megan Mullally, aka Karen, said that there was, quote, “a very good chance” that new episodes of Will & Grace would soon be in the works. “It’s not happening right this second,” she clarified. “I mean, we’re not rehearsing or anything like that. But there is a very good chance that something is going to materialise.”

Asked how a hypothetical new season might reflect the progress made by the LGBTQI community, as well as the current political climate in the United States, Mullally replied that “speaking theoretically, in a completely made-up world where Will & Grace is coming back to NBC for 10 episodes – just in that made-up world – it couldn’t be a better time.”

“I mean, it’s heinous that it’s because Donald Trump is the president-elect,” she continued. “That’s just a crazy sentence that nobody would have ever thought they’d utter. But having said that, at the same time, that just gives us carte blanche.”

“Again, we’re speaking hypothetically,” she quickly added, not really fooling anybody.

Mullally also spoke about the importance of the show to LGBTQI viewers. “Words can’t really describe what it means to me,” she said. “All you really hope to do, if you’re a performer and if you’re not an asshole, if you’re coming from a really legitimate, sincere place, is to have a positive impact.”
