Please Enjoy This Video Of Mark Ruffalo Explaining How He Rescued Abandoned Splendour Punters

If you were in attendance on the first night of Splendour in the Grass 2016, then you would remember The Bus Incident.

Punters attempting to get home from the festival were met with wait times of up to four hours long, after an apparent increase in car drop offs threw the festival’s traffic plan into absolute chaos.

Some attendees decided to sleep on the side of the road while waiting for the bus, while others bit the bullet and made the two-and-a-half hour walk back to Byron.

Turns out it wasn’t all bad for those hitchhiking punters, as a lucky few were rescued by none other than Hollywood superstar Mark Ruffalo, AKA the goddamn Hulk.

Ruffalo had attended the fest with his Thor: Ragnarok mates Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi, and he was driving out of the festival site when he spotted some kids in a spot of bother.

“The police were harassing them,” Mark explained in a promo interview for Thor today. “They were like, ‘Where are you going!?’ and they [the kids] were like, ‘We’re trying to get home’, and the cops were like ‘Where’s your car!?

“So [I said] oh I know them…I’m their uncle, what’s your problem? Why are you harassing these kids?”

Mark kindly drove the punters home — even when it emerged that their home wasn’t 10 minutes away from the site, as they originally told him, but nearly 3 hours in the opposite direction from where Mark was going. To add insult to injury, they didn’t even realise who he was.

“At one point when we were driving they were like ‘Wait a minute, are you in a movie?'” Mark laughed. “We were like halfway to their house by then.”

Awkward.
