Look, there’s a lot going on at the moment, but despite everything we still have Margaret Pomeranz: resplendent in her unique appraisals of an unavoidable facet of modern life, reality TV.

While the movie critic has already gifted us lauded critiques of Byron Baes and Luxe Listings Sydney, we’ve now been gifted with Pomeranz’s take on Love In The Jungle, a dystopian reality series where single men and women are plopped into the Colombian ‘jungle’ to try their hand at animalistic mating strategies.

“I’m Margaret Pomeranz, and also, Banksy — but don’t tell anyone,” Margaret begins, from the At The Movies set we all know and love.

“Reality dating programs are a dime a dozen, while hot young singles canoodle while viewers try and guess what personality defect made them appear on the show,” she says.

“There’s a subtle profundity here, prompting deep existential questions. Does anything matter? Am I in hell doing penance for the things I did in ‘Nam?”

“But with the nuance of Kubrick, answers remain ambiguous, with a reminder than when it comes to love, there’s no greater guide than instinct.” We then cut to a woman saying “I think intuitively with my pussy”, to which Margaret quips, “someone’s been reading my journal!”
