Clean and sustainable living isn’t just about the food you put in your mouth… You can put it on your face, too! Whether you’re trying to save money, save the planet, or save your skin from the nasty stuff that’s in mainstream beauty products, the answer to your skin care concerns is surprisingly sitting in your kitchen pantry (noooooooo, not the Nutella!).
We’ve teamed up with Amy of Gloriousmess to create a DIY face mask and body scrub that’s all-natural and free of perfumes, chemicals, and other useless junk. Just make sure you’re using quality — and preferably organic — ingredients to ensure its 100% good for you.

BEAUTY BOOST DIY FACE MASK!
This great concoction — made with yoghurt, tomatoes, and green tea leaves — is suitable for all skin types. The yoghurt’s live cultures moisturise and smoothen your skin; the caffeine in the green tea is refreshing and energising, while the tea leaves act as a gentle exfoliant; and the tomatoes are rich in nourishing vitamins like A, C and K and lycopene, an antioxidant.
–
INGREDIENTS:
– 1 teaspoon of strongly-brewed green tea
– Leaves from a used and dried green tea bag
– 1 teaspoon of tomato juice/pulp
– 2 tablespoons of Greek yoghurt (you could even go one step further and make the yoghurt yourself)
–
INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP 1. Add the tomato juice/pulp to the cooled green tea.
STEP 2. Then add the yoghurt and tea leaves.
STEP 3. Mix all the ingredients together. As with any new product, try a little test patch on the back of your hand to make sure your skin doesn’t react adversely.
STEP 4. Apply the mixture to your face for 10-15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Enjoy your beauty!

HALF & HALF DIY BODY SCRUB!
Made with brown sugar, raw sugar, coconut oil and tomato pulp, this body scrub smells enticingly like ANZAC biscuits! More importantly, it works. The combined granules of fine brown sugar with the rougher raw sugar means it double-exfoliates, attacking dead cells at different degrees of roughness. The coconut oil not only binds the scrub together, but is a great natural moisturiser that penetrates deeply into your skin and balances out the drying effects of exfoliation. And finally, the tomato pulp rounds it all off with a boost of vitamins and antioxidants. But also, ANZAC BISCUITS.
–
INGREDIENTS:
– ½ teaspoon of coconut oil
– 1 teaspoon of tomato juice/pulp
– 1 tablespoon of raw sugar
– 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
–
INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP 1. Add the tomato pulp to the coconut oil.
STEP 2. Then add in the raw sugar and brown sugar.
STEP 3. Mix all the ingredients together. Once again, test it on a small patch of skin before applying it to your body and face.
STEP 4. Apply to body and exfoliate in gentle, circular motions, then rinse off with warm water. Ooh, so smooth and pure!
