Rightful Queen of New Zealand and perfect pop angel Lorde has called out Kanye West and Kid Cudi’s collaborative project Kids See Ghosts for copying the stage design from her recent Melodrama tour.

On her Instagram Story earlier this morning, Lorde posted a series of photos comparing the floating box aesthetic she toured around the world earlier this year, with the near-identical elevated set debuted last night at the Kids See Ghosts first live show.

In the final frame Lorde writes: “I’m proud of the work I do and it’s flattering when other artists feel inspired by it, to the extent that they choose to try it on themselves. But don’t steal — not from women or anyone else — not in 2018 or ever.”

The Melodrama tour first kicked off late 2017 and is currently wrapping up this month, with the vast majority of her shows the past year featuring the “fishtank” like device.

While the Kids See Ghosts platform appears to be slightly longer than Lorde’s, the similarities are pretty dang hard to ignore. Last night was the first ever live performance from the duo, and whilst no plans for a full KSG tour has been announced, it’s hard to imagine they’d build a huge set like that only for one festival appearance.

Kanye and Kid Cudi are yet to publicly comment on the call-out from Lorde, with the internet currently split on whether this is actual plagiarism or just more evidence for the cyclical nature of ideas:

Either way I bet we haven’t heard the last of it.
