Harry Styles is one of the most bombastic and inventive figures in pop music, a style icon who combines the cutting-edge with the traditional. And then there’s Lizzo, who is one of the most bombastic and inventive figures in pop music, a style icon who combines the cutting-edge with the traditional.

As a result, that the two would one day collaborate always seemed like a question of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’. But the two are more than collaborating. They have become that rarity in the contemporary pop landscape: real friends. They’re not hanging out for the clout. They’re hanging out because they care about each other, and genuinely enjoy each other’s company and work. That’s unusual.

So unusual, in fact, that we would do well to celebrate this beam of light and joy that has cracked through our dark and often scary world. Which is exactly what we’re going to do now. Feast your eyes and your ears on the story of Lizzo and Harry Styles, the best friends in pop.

That Time Harry Covered Lizzo

The first public display of affection between the two came when Styles covered ‘Juice’, the Lizzo megahit for the BBC Live Lounge. Bringing his usual Fleetwood Mac-indebted flair to the proceedings, the singer-songwriter blew the roof off the place, making the sensual and empowered song entirely his own.

That Time They Performed Together

The first time that the pair performed in public together was recently, a little over a month ago. At the end of Lizzo’s Miami Beach concert, she introduced her surprise guest to the audience — Styles himself, dressed in an astonishing bit of knitwear and strutting his stuff back and forth for the crowd. It was joyous, basically, and the obvious start of a very special friendship to come.

That Time Lizzo Covered Harry

When it came time for Lizzo to perform at the BBC Live Lounge, she decided to return Harry’s favour, and covered his recent hit ‘Adore’. Just as Styles made her song his, so did Lizzo transform the tune, throwing a whole lot of funky instrumentation over the top and twisting it to the sound of her beautiful voice. She even adapted the lyrics a little. “Oh Harry,” she sang. “I’d walk through fire for you” Which, honestly, like: same.

That Time Lizzo Gave A Very Raunchy Interview About Harry

Obviously, all this public affection got the public interested in the story of Lizzo and Styles. So, when the former artist was interviewed on KISS FM in the UK, she was asked when the two might collab.

“The collab happened last night,” Lizzo said, mischievously, to snorts of laughter from the hosts. “Guys, I just got too many inappropriate jokes.”

When pressed further, Lizzo went, uh further. “We collabed. His [bleep] in my [bleep]hole.”

That Time The Two Obliterated The BRITs

By this stage, the pair’s relationship — or Hizzo as it came to be known — was the talk of the town. So, naturally, they decided to take it up a notch at the BRITs, where they held hands, gave delicate pecks on each other’s body, and basically looked like the best pair of uh, “friends” imaginable.

Oh, and then, later in the night, Lizzo chugged Harry’s straight nip of tequila while he made this face:

Like I said. Best friends.
