Actor-turned-director Greta Gerwig has reunited with the stars of her debut film Lady Bird, Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet, for a different kind of coming-of-age story: an adaptation of Louisa May Alcott seminal novel Little Women. And expect to hear that title a lot come awards season.

The eighth big screen adaptation of Alcott’s Civil War-era story stars Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh and Eliza Scanlen as Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth March sisters, four girls who, in the words of their mother (played Laura Dern), “have a way of getting into mischief”. Chalamet, meanwhile, plays their neighbour Laurie, who shapes as a potential love interest for Jo, while Meryl Streep plays their wealthy aunt, because of course she does.
