The death of Soundcloud rapper Lil Peep was a gigantic blow to the world of contemporary American pop.

Lil Peep, real name Gustav Elijah Åhr, was just 21 years old when he died of an accidental overdose of Xanax two weeks after his birthday. He was a man brimming with potential; a fresh new talent on the beginning of a path that so many had hoped would culminate in global domination.

And then there was the work: beautiful, vulnerable, and deeply moving songs about life and hurt that sounded like nothing less than a man pouring his whole heart into his music.

Indeed, that emotional vulnerability is the focus of a new documentary about Lil Peep, Everybody’s Everything. Piecing together his story via interviews with him, the people who knew him best, and his fellow musicians, the film promises a singularly intimate look at the musician. Beginning with home movie footage designed to explicate the story of his childhood, and ending in a flurry of sold-out concerts and fan meet-ups, the film charts the evolution of a modern titan.

Basically, it’ll break your heart in two.

The film doesn’t have Australian distribution yet, but hopefully some savvy distributor will change that soon. Till then, watch the trailer below:
