Tyra Banks Has Remixed Her Iconic Bop ‘Be A Star’ For ‘Life-Size 2’

Life-Size, the iconic 2000 movie in which Lindsay Lohan brought a plastic toy to life while experimenting with necromancy, is finally getting its long-awaited sequel this year. Though Lohan has not been confirmed as appearing, Tyra Banks is front and centre of the sequel, returning to revel once again in her role as Barbie-esque doll Eve.
To mark the occasion, Banks has remixed Life-Size’s certified bop ‘Be A Star’ to give it a modern update, featuring New Fear’s Eve. “We’re funking it up a little bit… it’s kind of a little bit trap music going on,” Banks told EW.
Though the majority of the song is a big departure from the original tune, it retains some elements of the beloved 00’s classic, namely it’s catchy chorus and message of shining bright, shining far, not being shy and instead being a star.
“There’s so much meaning behind this song,” Banks said. “It’s an empowerment song. It’s about owning who you are, being unapologetic.”
The new music video still includes Life-Size‘s “be a star” dance move in which Banks stands with her feet apart and raises her palm to the sky, symbolic of lifting our spirits and elevating us to a higher plane because we are all stars.
Banks’ memorable hot pink cardigan, white crop-top and blunt fringe also make a return, though in true fashion doll style, Banks goes through a catwalk’s worth of flashy outfits. On the town, at the mall, Eve loves high fashion.

In the first film, ‘Be A Star’ was Eve’s theme song, featured in commercials for the doll and sung by life-sized Eve during a business party, because dolls can’t tell when it isn’t appropriate to get up and sing about how great you are.
Life-Size 2 premieres in the US on December 2. No word yet as to when it’s arriving in Australia, but no matter where we live, where we are, we are stars.
