Lady Gaga’s Accidentally NSFW ‘Rain On Me’ Filter Is Raising A Lot Of Eyebrows
This Lady Gaga Instagram filter is, uh, a lot.
‘Rain On Me’, the new song by Lady Gaga, is causing something of a splash online.
Bigger and more bombastic than ‘Stupid Love’, Gaga’s last banger, ‘Rain on Me’ turns up everything to eleven. It starts harder and it gets harder, with Ariana Grande herself lending her vocal talents to the gorgeous, cheesy soup.
But it’s not just the song itself that’s causing a bunch of discussion online. See, the banger was dropped alongside a now pretty common music promotional tool — an Instagram filter.
It’s not hard to see why artists scrabble to slap their names onto a filter. Viral promotion through Instagram and TikTok is how songs get big these days. Just take a glancing look at the career of Doja Cat and you’ll see what I mean.
But Gaga’s filter is far from a regular advertising tool. Mostly on account of the fact that the filter makes anyone who uses it look like they’re getting peed and/or cummed upon.

Anyway, predictably, within hours of the filter hitting the net, it became the source of many memes online.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that this is not an accident. More and more, marketing companies are going in for “invisible advertising” — i.e. designing an outrage or scandal that looks accidental. And hey, if that’s the case, Gaga’s pulled one over us already. Look at this very article, a piece of promotion that might not have existed were it not for the spunk mask.
