Watch These Kids Flawlessly Recreate Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande’s ‘Rain On Me’ Video
The new great music video of 2020 is here.
Remember “sweding”? Back in 2008, inspired by a plot point in Michel Gondry’s Be Kind Rewind, a bizarro trend emerged in which film fans would recreate famous movies in their backyards.
The budget for these recreations would be non-existent, with toy cars and cardboard boxes substituted in for Hollywood effects wizardry. But that was the point. These recreations had a fast and loose energy that was wholly charming, and which quickly took over the internet.
Well, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, it looks like sweding is back in a big way.
First, a group of youngsters recreated the trailer for Chris Hemsworth’s big-budget action spectacular Extraction.
This remake of Netflix’s ‘EXTRACTION’ trailer is incredible!

Then, just this week, a group of children from the Dream Catchers Academy — a charity that teaches young disenfranchised children to dance — gave the music video for Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s ‘Rain On Me’ the same treatment.
And wouldn’t you know it? It’s a work of great, powerful art. Especially given that the whole thing was directed and edited by a 15-year-old.
I mean, just watch.
If @ladygaga and @arianagrande Rain on Me was shot in Nigeria!

The post tagged both Lady Gaga and Grande, and so it will be simply a matter of time until either one responds. Let’s hope the popstars give the young dancers all of the credit and respect that they deserve.
In the meantime, you can check out the full-length, hi-res version here:
