Late last month, Disney and Square Enix lovechild Kingdom Hearts 3 was finally released into the wild. Fans had been making eager grabby hands at the merest mention of the game that would conclude the Dark Seeker Saga for the past 12 years, so many gleefully jumped straight in. Even so, sometimes the best fun is the fun you make yourself.

In the Kingdom Hearts seriesanime hero Sora and his companions Donald Duck and Goofy travel between various Disney worlds, whacking things with a giant key in hopes of eventually defeating an evil wizard. There are a lot of things you just kind of have to go with.

In Kingdom Hearts 3, one of these worlds is Toy Box – the setting of Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story – where the group meet characters such as Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Rex. This is already an exciting enough event, but what has captured many players’ attention and truly made Andy’s bedroom a special place is its collection of colourful wooden letter blocks.

As is mandatory when faced with movable objects bearing letters, players have quickly taken to arranging these blocks to spell out words. Well, largely just “word”.

Compounding on the joy, Kingdom Hearts 3 has added the ability to take selfies. A true millennial, our intrepid hero Sora is now in possession of a smartphone and a series of silly poses, which he will happily strike at any time.

Players have thus been able to frame their accomplishments with their childhood hero Sora’s ecstatic approval.

However, getting the multicoloured blocks into this most pleasing of configurations isn’t easy, despite “gay” only being a three-letter word. Multiple players have reported that it is a time-consuming task requiring a lot of patience and dedication.

This is largely because homophobes Donald Duck and Goofy seem determined to ruin everything, often barging in and ruining players’ hard work. They’re literally those bullies who knock over other kids’ block towers.

Though “gay” is by far the most popular word people have chosen to spell, it isn’t the only word in Kingdom Hearts 3 players’ lexicons. In the short week since the game was released, Andy’s wooden blocks have been used to spell out a wide variety of beautiful words, sharing thoughtful messages and positive vibes throughout the Kingdom Hearts community.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is currently available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
