In today’s episode of Toxic Shitheads Ruin Things For Everybody ElseStar Wars actor Kelly Marie Tran has seemingly left Instagram following months of harassment from fuckwits calling themselves fans.

Tran, best known for her role as Rose Tico in The Last Jedi, deleted all her photos from the social media platform earlier this week. Although she has not commented publicly on her reason for doing so, many have speculated it is due to the extreme abuse she has received from trolls who didn’t like her character in the film.

Tran is the first woman of colour to play a lead role in a Star Wars film. Speaking to GQ back in March, she revealed that she has struggled with the “acidic, misogynistic, racist comments” that have been aimed at her since The Last Jedi hit cinemas in December.

Earlier today, the film’s director Rian Johnson hit out at “manbabies”, tweeting that “on social media a few unhealthy people can cast a big shadow on the wall”. Johnson has previously been targeted by abusive fans, although he maintains that the “vast majority” of people are respectful.

Sadly this isn’t the first time that a woman involved in the Star Wars franchise has been forced off social media by so-called fans, with Tran’s co-star Daisy Ridley deleting her Instagram in 2016 after she was bombarded with abusive messages for posting about gun violence.
