In what can only be described as the silver lining to an otherwise chaotic week, Universal Pictures has finally dropped the trailer for the highly anticipated final chapter to the Jurassic Park franchise — Jurassic World: Dominion.

The film — due out on June 10, 2022 — unites two generations of lead characters, with Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill all returning to the series alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. After months of delays (the film was originally set for release on June 11, 2021), we are finally getting our first look at the conclusion to the franchise ahead of its release later this year.

The film takes place four years after the events of Jurassic World:Fallen Kingdom, which saw Isla Nublar destroyed and a Noah’s ark full of dinosaurs released into the United States.

“Dinosaurs now live — and hunt — alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures,” the synopsis reads.

If the trailer is any indication, we can expect to see the protagonists fighting to save humanity and the dinosaurs from each other, noting that “humans and dinosaurs can’t coexist.”

OG Jurassic World director and screenwriter Colin Trevorrow is back in the director’s chair for the final instalment, while franchise creator Steven Spielberg — who greenlit the original film before Michael Crichton’s book even hit shelves — serves as executive producer.

As expected, fans of the OG franchise have rushed to social media to express their joy in seeing Laura Dern and Sam Neill reprise their roles for the first time in the Jurassic World timeline, with some even noting that Ellie Sattler is still rocking the same iconic 90s fit that she wore in the original film.

It looks like the final film will wrap up the series in a way that pleases fans of both Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, with tiny Easter eggs throughout the trailer serving as odes to the original film. But unfortunately, after carefully inspecting the trailer, it is becoming increasingly unlikely that we will get to see Chris Pratt get eaten by a T-Rex.

Jurassic World: Dominion hits theatres on June 10, 2022.
