There’s a lot going on in the world right now. Trump’s being Trump, Brexit is somehow still a thing, and it seems like it’s going to be up to young people to actually do something about climate change.

To help you out with the day-to-day mess that is the 24-hour news cycle, Junkee is launching a new daily news show on Facebook Watch: The Junkee Takeaway.

The Junkee Takeaway will delve deep into a trending topic of the day and dissect it from every angle. From politics and science, to pop culture, sexuality and social justice issues, Junkee’s new series wants to help its audience to not just know what’s happening in the news, but to actually understand it.

The Junkee Takeaway will be hosted and produced by Elfy Scott, formerly of BuzzFeed Australia and 10 Daily, and Ben Strum, whose background lies in documentary making. “I’m extremely excited to deliver news stories in a fun, creative way for our online audience without dumbing them down or stripping them of their political or social importance,” says Scott.

“This is exactly the kind of partnership we want to have with the news industry. Junkee Media has been a major innovator in digital for years and we’re really happy we can support them as they take the next step in innovating for Facebook Watch. We can’t wait to start watching The Junkee Takeaway,” says Andrew Hunter, Facebook’s News Partnerships lead, Australia and New Zealand.

“We’ve wanted to do a daily video news show forever, so we can’t wait to take Junkee’s fresh way of viewing the world into a new format with Facebook Watch,” says Tim Duggan, Junkee Media Publisher.

The Junkee Takeaway is funded by Facebook as part of their commitment to help quality publishers experiment with video, trial new formats and build sustainable video businesses on Facebook.

The Junkee Takeaway launches on Monday 23rd September at 6pm on Junkee’s Facebook page, and then 6pm every weeknight.
