Thank God It’s Over (Kind Of): Joe Biden Is Now Projected To Win The US Election
It's over. But it's also not over.
Joe Biden has won the US election after winning Pennsylvania and taking his electoral college vote past the 270 threshold, according to Decision Desk HQ and Vox.
**UPDATE, 1:41AM Australian time** The Trump campaign has already claimed that it plans to contest what it calls the “false projection of Joe Biden” as the winner, based off narrow margins of victory in key states.

Joe Biden pulled ahead in the vote counts early on, but Trump narrowed the gap and falsely claimed he won the election not long after 2 AM local time on Wednesday.
However, this doesn’t mean this mess is over. As Junkee reported earlier, Trump’s conduct has thrown the question the long-held norms of the office into question.
Both sides have launched legal challenges over vote-counting methods and if crucial contests get up, it could change the results of the election.

The Supreme Court is stacked six-three in favour of Republicans and three of those red judges were appointed by Trump himself. The outcome of any challenge may not be immediately obvious though, because despite party loyalties the court is very conscious of drawing the ire of the public.
It’s also expected that once Biden is sworn in, the secret service would escort Trump out of the White House and therefore the presidency on inauguration day. But I’m not willing to bet any money that this will come to pass, because in 2020 terms it’s a long time between now and January 20.
